Amado means "Beloved" and from January 10 to February 21, 2016 we practiced new ways to be beloved. These are our "40 Days Amado" when we take on the invitation to explore and experience spiritual practices that lead us to love the world more deeply. In short, we've learned to be more beloved.
This has meant deep reflection in heart, mind, body and spirit as to what moves and motivates us to love. It has meant asking others what moves them to love. It has meant listening to both the joy and pain among us as the means to living our our love. It has meant connecting again with all that is beloved. |
Practices to join in on:
If you have 1 minute each day:
Breathe with the congregation at 10:30am. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, stop and breathe deeply for seven breaths, one for each of our seven principles.
If you have more time:
Read The Sunflower: On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgiveness by Simon Wiesenthal and join in the book discussion on Jan. 19, 2:00pm at Caley’s Cakes, Green Valley.
Gather for “Qigong: Healing Movement Practice” January 14 & 28 and February 11 and 25 in our sanctuary at 3:00pm.
Come for a Contemplative Worship, Sunday January 31 9:00am in the Fuller Room, led by Rev. Ron Phares from Mountain Vista UU in Tucson.
Attend the workshop “Faithful Conversations” with the Rev. Amy Beltaine on February 6th in our sanctuary, time 1-4pm.
Our Race and Justice: Dialogue and Action workshop begins with a two sessions on the book Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson (Spiegel and Grau, 2014). Starting on February 9 and continuing on February 19th in our sanctuary from 1-3pm on both days.
Continue to worship every week and enjoy special guest speakers from our congregation, from the Islamic Center of Tucson, and from local and long traveling Unitarian Universalist ministers!
